Booster or RNAiBoost: choosing a transfection reagent
Booster is a polymer-based reagent for DNA and RNA transfection. RNAiBoost is a lipid-based reagent for siRNA, miRNA and ASO delivery. Compare kit contents, manufacturer application data and pack sizes to choose a sample for your lab.

Booster: a polymer-based approach to DNA and RNA delivery
Hieff Trans™ Booster DNA/RNA Transfection Reagent uses a polymer formulation rather than a conventional liposomal delivery system. YEASEN describes a design intended to protect nucleic acids during delivery, support intracellular release and reduce reagent-associated cytotoxicity.
Its listed applications span DNA, mRNA, siRNA, miRNA and antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs). This breadth makes Booster an option to consider when a laboratory uses more than one nucleic acid type. YEASEN provides application data for established cell lines including HeLa, HEK293T and A549, alongside selected primary-cell models.

What about difficult-to-transfect cells?
YEASEN positions Booster for sensitive and difficult-to-transfect cells, not only routine cell-line work. Its official article includes examples involving primary dermal fibroblasts, primary mouse hepatocytes and other challenging models.
The manufacturer reports transfection efficiency above 90% in its presented testing and shows selected comparisons with a reference transfection reagent. These results provide a reason to evaluate Booster, rather than a promise that every cell type, nucleic acid or assay will achieve the same outcome.
For a useful comparison, look for data that match your cell model and payload. Consider cell viability and the downstream experimental result alongside delivery efficiency.
RNAiBoost: a dedicated option for gene-silencing workflows
For laboratories primarily working with siRNA, Hieff Trans™ RNAiBoost Transfection Reagent offers a more focused option. Unlike Booster, YEASEN describes RNAiBoost as a lipid-based delivery platform, designed to support functional RNA delivery into the cytoplasm.
YEASEN reports target-gene knockdown above 90% in tested systems and provides examples in primary and difficult-to-transfect cells. Practical features include five-minute complex formation and compatibility with serum- and antibiotic-containing media, without a required post-transfection medium change in the stated workflow.
The five-minute figure refers to preparation of the complexes, not the time needed to obtain a gene-silencing result. Knockdown efficiency also measures a different outcome from transfection efficiency.

Which reagent should you consider?
A difficult cell model alone does not determine the choice: the payload and intended readout matter too.
| Your main requirement | Option to evaluate | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Plasmid DNA or mRNA delivery | Booster | Broad DNA/RNA application scope |
| siRNA-mediated gene knockdown | RNAiBoost | Focused gene-silencing platform |
| Several DNA and RNA applications | Booster | Multiple listed nucleic acid types |

Compare value through evaluation
When reviewing a new reagent, compare both performance and the cost per successful experiment—not simply the price per bottle. A side-by-side evaluation can help your laboratory decide whether a change supports its research and budget.
